no - i was informed about this project some days ago. i started jabaco earlier and my solution is very different. but the "semplice"-project is also very interesting. i'll observe the development, but the project is currently dead. thank you for the javaone transparency - the semplice developers have much more problems than listed at "Connecting With the

UPDATE: This project appears to be dead at the moment. 2 of its 3 main developers have left Sun*. No code has been publicly released.

That two developers have left, is not the whole reason.2 developers left - maybe they have seen jabaco
One developer is already there and he have the sourcecode of Semplice. In june I have ask him about Semplice and the Sourcecode and he says:
sorry - releasing code involves a fair amount of effort and legal due dilligence, especially for the Semplice project since there were some legal concerns given Microsoft's patents in the area of Visual Basic. That's why it hasn't been done; we've waited for feedback from customers etc. but there hasn't been a lot of interest in financing the visual basic compiler project.
So, seems that lack of developers is not the only reason.
