Trying New Version

Hi,
here some findings... (on WindowsXP)
(while reading please keep in mind I never worked with VB6 longer than 10 minutes or so...)

The splash window has a grey bar at the left and bottom - only the top half of the text that tells the user what's happening is visible.

The Caption in the IDE says "Jabaco [Form1]" or "Jabaco [Module1]" but IMHO it should say "Jabaco [ProjectName]" or "Jabaco - ProjectName [Form1]" or similar, otherwise there is no information about the project name the user is working on.

Also while trying some demo programs and coding my own samples, it seems that the newest version (1.4.2 downloaded today) has some bugs.

First: can't debug. The black ascii windows pop up at the bottom (the right one says something like bla,bla unknown etc) but there is no form apprearing from a gui sample. Maybe the "unknown" message should not appear...

Second: after working with several different samples it appears that when a different project is loaded in the ide it always loads the same form file (all projects are in the same directory) and when I saved the projects all got the same form (but I started out with different forms).
Hmm...
Found out that having several projects in one directory is a bad thing ;(
(apparently all forms had the same name "Form1")

After sorting things out and copying the files in different directories I asked myself:
"Why is Jabaco not creating a directory by himself while creating a new project?"
Could this please be added?
At first start, Jabaco should ask about where to place the "master project directory" were Jabaco can create directories for new projects.

Also after copying the files I forgot to copy a "form1.jsrc" file into the new directory and while Jabaco loaded the project Jabaco showed me a message box asking "file not found, continue?" I clicked "NO" in the hope to load another project, but Jabaco stopped working (at least the gui).
Was not able to even close the Jabaco window!

Suppose Jabaco took the words "Continue?" -> "No" literally :D
Had to kill Jabaco manually.

Documentation could be better... especially for people like me without a VB6 history :D

Anyway, hope to get better used to Jabaco...

EDIT:

BTW: Somehow I can't log out from the forum... it says:

"The link you are trying to reach is no longer available or is invalid."

had to kill the cache and cookies.

One more thing I found:

Clicking on the "Close Project" menu closes the project, which is OK.

But if a project should be closed before it's saved (not saved before clicking the "Close Project" menu) then Jabaco will ask me "Save changes?"..

If "Yes" is clicked Jabaco will save the project but not close it.

It's like Jabaco totally forgets that the original menu command was "Close Project".

bye

Could you make a screenshot and mark what you mean?

Could you copy / paste the bla bla? :)

... I'll think about this problem.

Will be fixed for the next version.

Suggestions for this problem are very welcome.

Hello, just a few things

Hi, I am new to the forum. I love jabaco, I tried the previous version, now I'm reviewing this, I have some observations: I would add in the code editor, the number of lines on the right side. Also in Jabaco to resize and close when it reopens this does not change in size. Excuse my English, not fluent, I am from Perú. I can read and write a bit to help me with a translator ^^ , but I would like to contribute to the project at least a few observations. Thank you :)

I agreed with several things in first post:

Jabaco 1.4.2 always opens up the samples folder when you click open, save, new commands.....

I think it would be better to give us an options dialog box. Items on the Options Dialog Box could include:
1. Language Selection
2. Default Project Folder (as already stated before)
3. Auto Remove Unused Dependancies/References
4. Editor Options Font Size atleast.

Another feature that could be added is that when you go to references and click on the Directory it doesnt have an option to select all in that directory eg. Select : Java--->SQL----> (Java SQL Classes) Select ALL.
- Select All Subdirectories and classes
- Unselect All Subdirectories and classes
- Restore Default References
- Show only USed References and or SHow unused References.

Possible bug

Hi I think I have found a little bug

If I create a new "Applet" type project, then File->Make It generates a JAR and HTML file.

If I then close the IDE and re-open the project, when I go to FILE->MAKE I can only make a JAR or exe.
