Impact on Mac?

Hi
I have a small production simulation program written in VB6. I have been planning to update it and make it available on Mac. To prepare I have been testing small Jabaco programs and compiling in Jar, exporting to the Mac (macbook air) and testing how they look and work. Simple things like timers, form layouts colours, button etc.

There has been a coincidence of having to completely reinstall the operating system on the Mac. This has happened five times and Apple cannot find any reason for this. There is no hardware or software issue.

I just checked all the dates of the needed maintenance on the Mac and they coincide almost exactly with my Jabaco tests. Each time I do a test the Mac will not start after it is shut down following a test.

Is there any possibility that the compiled jar programs can damage a mac? Or is this just some dreadful coincidence? If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate hearing from you.

Jabaco *.jar files are just Java executables which run inside a Java Virtual Machine.
This should not influence your Macbook as nothing is "installed".

Obviously, one can write damaging or disturbing Java code. But if your tool is clean and not actually running, there should be no problem.

A complete re-install is quite frequently proposed by service people who have not enough time or knowlegde to find the reason of failure.
It is rather simple for them to do. The re-install requires only a few key clicks, much less work than properly analysing a complex system.
Before the next re-install you should make sure that the problem gets diagnosed in more detail.

My two Cents ...

Thanks, it was just a long shot as no one can see a reason for the issues. They have also suggested a complete examination of the Mac.
