Hi jbExplorer, Quoted Well, I wasn't suggesting choose Clojure over Jabaco, but rather choosing them both. Clojure has several IDEs, and it's easier to develop GUIs in Clojure Seesaw, than in pure Java Swing. Web development is also easier in Clojure, than in Java. Thanks for the suggestion, I may explore it further. But since my expertise in Java is limited that enthuse me much. Quoted I get that you are going to wait, before making your decision. That's good, because it does seem like some cha...
Hi jbExplorer, Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for guiding me to have a look at Clojure. I am not in search of different languages, but in search of a rich IDE (having MDI and SDI forms, many controls that can be drag-dropped to the form, Database connection possibilities etc) which supports a familiar language, suitable mainly for desktop application development for windows platform and is extensible. That is why VB 6 was my favorite, and now Jabaco and Embarcado Delphi are under consider...
Hi, Can I use ActiveX, OCX, DLLs from withing Jabaco, even if that will lead to Platform dependence? If possible can I get code samples on how to do the same plz. Datebases: Using proper JDBC drivers it is possible to connect with SQLite or MySQL/MariaDB from within Java. So does it mean that it is possible to do the same from within Jabaco too? Is it possible to Embed a lightweight Chromium-based Swing component into a Jabaco application to display modern web pages built with HTML5, CSS3, JavaS...
Hi, Does the death(?) of Swing around 2009 has anything to do with no further release of Jabaco after that very same year? In case that was a reason, what would be the future course that would be taken? Bundling Java swing libraries along with Jabaco, or switching to something else like SWT, or yet some other path? Note: I am not much familiar with Java and its history, so please pardon me if I said something wrong. I am just in search of an extensible and safe VB6 alternative, so that I can dev...
Dear theuserbl, Quoted The main program is written in Visual Basic 6. With dlls in C/C++. Excellent! That shows the power of VB! And also the power of C/C++ ! Quoted But Manuel is working to port its VB6-code to C++ I wish him the very best and hope to see the product soon. With a little more push, and few more extra features, Jabaco will roll up the hill and start to roll down towards a bigger community of coders and users alike! Thanks and regards, Sreenadh
Wow! That was an excellent reply! Thanks a lot. I hope that in future versions Manuel will provide us with a way to export the code to Java too.
Hi, I would like to know - what is the environment/too/language with with Jabaco IDE is created? Certainly it is a nice excellent work. So asking-about/knowing the tool/environment/language used to develop the same makes sense I think. Thanks and regards, Sreeandh
Hi theuserbl, Thanks for the informative reply. I created a small program with a button and a Msgbox "Hai" in Jabaco, created a jar file from the same (using File->Make Project) and then decompiled the jar using jd-gui. But I couldn't locate "Hai" anywhere, eventhough I could find a Form1.class and a Command1_Click() among the decompiled files. Where should I look for it? Note: I am trying to understand Jar and the decompiled code generated from the same in a better way. Thanks and regards, Sree...
Hi, I would like to know is there a way to export Jabaco code a Java code - I mean in to text files containing Java code. I know that Jabaco converts the written VB code to equivalent Java code, but the question is, is there a way to get it as Java code itself. Thanks and regards, Sreenadh
Hi Manuel, Excellent! Thanks a lot. And please do keep up the spirit. Just one more push, bit more improvements and Jabaco would definitely receive reward and recognition it deserves! I love VB coding than any other programming language, and what to have output as exes and platform independence would be a great advantage. I don't like .Net, and thus I find Jabaco as the best possible alternative which gives me that VB 6 feel, especially with the robust and excellent IDE. Probably the lack of doc...
Dear Manuel Siekmann, I was in look out for a Vb6 clone which would help me to write code in vb6 like interface and would compile the code to an exe without much troubles, and is portable too. Jabaco seems to be the apt and excellent solution especially with the nice and stable IDE you have created for Jabaco development. But what worries me is that it seems to be kind of dead project with no further release after 2009, less activity in the group, and I miss some features like Menu Editor (and I...
